Beaches and coastal walks

Withernsea is the nearest seaside town, with a long sand and shingle beach, the inland lighthouse and traditional fish and chips on the front. South of the park the coast narrows towards Spurn Point, where a three-mile sand spit reaches into the Humber — one of the most striking walks in East Yorkshire. Further north, Hornsea and Bridlington give you wider sands and more in the way of seaside attractions. Please note the holiday home itself is inland on the leisure park, so the beaches are a short drive rather than a walk.

Nature and wildlife

This stretch of coast is known for birdwatching. Spurn National Nature Reserve is a landmark spot for migrating birds, seals are often seen along the Humber mouth, and the quiet lanes and drains around Patrington are good for a slow walk or a cycle. The fishing lake and landscaped grounds on the park itself are worth an early morning too — see the park facilities.

Family days out

Hull is the obvious wet-weather plan, with The Deep aquarium, free city museums and the cobbled Old Town. Closer to home, the indoor pool and family entertainment at the Country Club keep younger children happy without getting back in the car, and Withernsea has the beach, the pier towers and amusements for an easy half day.

Patrington, Hull and Beverley

The village of Patrington, just up the road from the park, is known for St Patrick's Church — the "Queen of Holderness" — and has everyday shops and pubs. Hull gives you museums, the marina and the Old Town; Beverley, further inland, is a handsome market town with its minster, Saturday market and independent shops. Village inns and farm shops across Holderness are good for a Sunday lunch on the way back.
